Khihlo Daryna 🎨 Impressionism
Impressionism is an art style that appeared in France in the nineteenth century. Artists of this style tried to convey their impressions rather than exact details. They paid special attention to light, colour, and mood.
Impressionist paintings look light and sometimes a little blurry. Artists often painted nature, cities, and everyday life. They usually worked outdoors to capture natural light and quick changes in the atmosphere.
They used short brush strokes and bright colours instead of dark tones. Shadows were often painted in blue or purple, not black.
Impressionist artists often did not mix colours on the palette. They put pure colours next to each other on the canvas. When people look at the painting, the colours seem to mix in their eyes. This makes the picture look more lively.
Artists also tried to show a moment that changes quickly, for example, a sunset or moving water. That is why their paintings look “alive” and dynamic. At first, Impressionism was not understood and was even criticised. But later, this style became very popular and important in art.
